        Today                            In 6 years

Diane (D): = A + 23                  (A + 23) + 6  = A + 29

Amy (A): A                                (A) + 6  = A + 6

A + 29 = 2(A + 6)

A + 29 = 2A + 12

     29 = A + 12

     17 = A

Diane (D): = A + 23   = (17) + 23   = 40

Answer: Diane = 40, Amy = 17
