Solve by factoring 2x squared -6 = x squared+48

x = ± 3√6

2x² - 6 = x² + 48 ( subtract x² from both sides )

x² - 6 = 48 ( add 6 to both sides )

x² = 54 ( take the square root of both sides )

x = ± √54 = ± 3√6
