Roosevelt firmly believed that corporations had a lot of power, what is more, he was sure they has too much of it. Being a representative of Progressives, he was preoccupied with an idea how to control big businesses. His policy concerning antitrust suits turned out very successful. Federal government finally gained control over big businesses, such as Northern Securities Company and American Tobacco Company.
