What is ultrasound? What is its use in industry? Why can't we use longer wavelengths for such uses?

An ultrasound is a sound or other vibrations having an ultrasonic frequency, it is particularly used in ultrasound scans to see if someone is pregnant and to look at the developing baby. Using longer wavelengths would not be safe for both the mother or the baby as it would use ionising radiation.
