Alkaline earth metal make up the second group of the periodic table. This family includes the elements Beryllium, Magnesium, calcium,strontium, barium, and radium. Group 2 elements share a common characteristics. Each metal is naturally occurring and quite reactive.

Alkaline earth metals are reasonably reactive and are known for their +2 charge.
They often react with oxygen group elements and halogens.
