first you wanna subtract 8 from both sides

then this... 2x+12=20

next you need to subtract 12 from both sides

then it'll look like this 2x=8

then this... [tex]\frac{2x}{2}=\frac{8}{2}[/tex]

lastly your gonna simplify it and and your answer will be...

x = 4
