It helps because if you estimate your answer, you will know if you put decimal in the correct place. For example, my estimate for 42.7×12 would be 43×10=430.0
The answer is 512.4. So what I'm saying is that where ever your decimal is in the estimate, or it should be the in the same place as the product. Sorry if this is confusing.
