Jane drove 660 miles in 12 hours. At that rate, how long would it take her to drive 275 miles?

answer is 5 hours

660/275 = 12/x
660x = 275 (12)...>cross multiply
66x = 3300
x =3300/660
x = 5

It took 12 hours for Jane to drive 660 miles. Let x be the time needed to drive 275 miles, using the rule of three:

660 miles --> 12 hours
275 miles --> x hours

x = (275*12)/660
