Given: f(x) = x + 1 and g(x) = x²−3

1. Solve for f(3)

Let f(x) = f(3).

Substitute 3 for x

f(3) = 3 + 1
= 4

Therefore f(3) = 4

Solve for gf(3)

Substitute f(3) into g(x).

f(3) = 4
gf(3) = 4² − 3
= 13

Therefore gf(3) = 13
