To solve this via substitution, just substitute -x+5 for y in your first equation. To do this, set both equations, except the ys, equal to each other, giving you [tex]-x+5= \frac{3}{2} x[/tex]. Now, add x to both sides to get [tex]-x+5= \frac{3}{2} x=\ \textgreater \ 5= \frac{5}{2} x[/tex]. Now, multiply both sides by 5/2 to get x=2 as your answer. If you need to solve for y, just plug in x to an equation to get -(2)+5=3.
