The Iron Act was meant to reduce the influence of the products of the colonists so as to protect the home industry.

Therefore, the mercantilist principle the Artificers and Manufacturers Act, also known as the Iron Act of 1750  exemplifies is the ability to protect the local economy and home inudustry.
