Graham's law states that the rate of diffusion or effusion of two gases is inversely proportional to the square root of their molar masses

  • If two gases be x and y

For diffusion:-

[tex]\\ \sf\longmapsto \dfrac{V_x}{V_y}=\sqrt{\dfrac{m_y}{m(x}}[/tex]

  • m means molar mass

For effusion

[tex]\\ \sf\longmapsto \dfrac{R_x}{R_y}=\sqrt{\dfrac{m_y}{m_x}}[/tex]
