Direct speech is a sentence which contains the actual words spoken by the original speaker inside quotes.
Indirect speech is the sentence wherein the words spoken by original speaker is told by someone else after making required changes.
Indirect speech:
He asked me what my name was.
Direct speech:
He said to me, " What is your name?”.
