The cell membrane plays the same role in the cell as the skin plays in our body
It shields our internal organs as the cell membrane does the same for protecting the other organelles [there is also a cell well in plants]
Similarly, as our skin allows water and sunlight to enter our cells, the cell membrane also constricts entry of foreign particles, and allows for the required transport of sugars, proteins, water, etc.
