How does a mid-ocean ridge differ from a ocean trench

A trench is very deep, elongated and boarders a continent/island. It is formed when on tectonic plate slides beneath another tectonic plate. A ridge is an underwater mountain range that criss crosses the ocean and is formed by rising magma in a zone where two plates are being moved a part.
