You need to find the area of the larger rectangle first. (7 x 3) Then the area of the smaller rectangle. (5 x 3) Then find the area of the unshaded square. (2 x 2) Then add the area of the two rectangles, then subtract the area of the unshaded square. That will give you your answer. :)
