How must unit cubes be stacked when used to measure volume

Volume is measured by squared units, which is why you could use cubes to represent the volume of a figure. Since volume means the entire figure, you have to stack the cubes one on top of the other and fill the entire cube in an orderly fashion to best identify the volume. Hope this help! :)
