well 3/4 in 1/8 means that you need to multiply 3/4 by 8 in order to make a whole minute
3/4 × 8/1 = 24/4
24/4=6
the answer is 6 carrots

Cross-multiply the proportion:

   (3 carrot / 4 minutes) = ( 'x' carrot / 8 minutes)

Multiply each side by 8 minutes:

               6 carrots  =  'x' carrots
