Software piracy is not good for the developer of the software who has copyright rights to it and who benefits from its' sale and distribution. Re file sharing and digital rights, if for example I am writing a book, I must obtain permission from the copyright holder of say the images to reprint them and have electronic copies, and this could require some payment or it may be free but with the courtesy of sending them a copy of the book or publication pages involved.
