6x+7=6

Subtract both sides by 7 
6x+7-7=6-7

6x=-1

Divide both sides by 6 to isolate x 
6x/6=-1/6

x=-1/6

First  subtract 7 from each side 
that leaves you with 6x=6
divide 6 to 6x and you will be left with x=-1/6
