Shakespeare uses some old words that are no longer used today. He also wrote very formally. The combination of these two factors makes it difficult for modern students to understand.

Because of the time period they were written in, the way people spoke was very different. It is hard for people to understand because we no longer talk in that way and it can get confusing.
