Using BODMAS or PEDMAS (depending upon which part of the world you live),

12 ÷ 12(4 − 6)

= 12 
÷ (12 × -2)

= 12 ÷ (-24)

= [tex] \frac{12}{-24} = \frac{1}{-2} = - \frac{1}{2} [/tex]

= -0.5
