Hello there,

The first thing to take into account is:

“EF bisects CD”.

In geometry, “bisects” means to dive into two exactly equal parts.

If EF bisects CD on G, CG measures the same as GD

CG = GD

5x - 1 = 7x - 13

12 = 2x

6 = x

Now you know the value of “x”.

If EF = 6x - 4 and x = 6, EF = 6*6-4 =32

EF = EG + GF

32 = EG + 13

So, EG = 19

Kind regards,

Daniela
