What makes you think that you have the power or the privilege to take a fraction or a mixed number and somehow turn it into a whole number ?
Do you know a way to take half of a pizza and magically turn it into a whole pizza ? Or take 4 cups of flour and turn it into 5 cups ?
We use fractions and mixed numbers to talk about things that are not whole things, but are only pieces of whole things.
The only way to change those into only whole things is to throw away any incomplete piece, or bring in another piece to glue onto it and make it whole. If you do either of those, you CHANGE the value of the number, and then it's a whole different ballgame.
