During the final meeting of the Constitutional Convention that was held in Philadelphia, instead of modifying the Articles of Confederation, they created a new government. The delegates elected George Washington to take over the Convention. This resulted in the creation of the United States Constitution. Hence, the convention was regarded as among the most important events in the history of the United States of America.
