Where does the light-independent reaction occur?

The light-independent reaction for obtaining energy (I think this is what you are talking about) occurs within the organism. This is because cellular respiration does not require light, seeing as how most humans do not need light directly (although they need the Sun for photosynthesis to occur in plants so that the plants produce Oxygen) in order to survive.
