Why are there so few structures still surviving from ancient Mesopotamia?

The structures were made of mud bricks. Over time natural disasters and war really took a toll on them.

So few structures are surviving in Mesopotamia because the materials they used were susceptible to decay over the years. Mesopotamians did not have brick available to them, so they used materials like clay, which is not very durable.
