Jesus was crucified for our sins. Of course this is a simple question but, before Jesus was born, we had to clear our sins with killing a goat or lamb. So we could be forgiven. God gave us his son so all we had to do was repent to him. And grow closer to him.
Thats why Jesus was crucified.
