First divide both sides by 5.9 and that will give you an answer of 4
1st. You always want the variable to be by itself. In this case the variable is q, so we have to do the opposite. 5.9 times 9... the opposite of multiplication is division.

5.9q=23.6
5.9q=4
q=4
