what is 5/7 - 1/4 (with same denomonators)?

the common denominator of the two would be 28
So you multiply the top and the bottom of 5/7 by 28
5/7 × 4 = 10/28
You  would multiply 1/4 by 7
1/4×7= 7/28

SO 10/28-7/28= 3/28
